At guru krupa special school, we firmly believe that knowledge
is the key to freedom and selfsustenance. In the rapidly advancing 21st century, no one should be left behind without the right opportunties and support. Children and young adults with intellectual disabilities, particularly
from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, are at risk of falling behind in the race to the next gen.
PROBLEM STATEMENT

In the 6-13 age group in Tamil Nadu, there are a total of 87,603 children identified as having special needs

Comparatively, the situation at the national level is even more alarming, with 28% of children with special needs across the country reported to be out of school

However, according to a survey, a significant proportion of these children, specifically 23,627 of them, which accounts for nearly 27% of the total, are currently not enrolled in any school.

These figures highlight the urgent need for targeted interventions and inclusive educational policies to ensure that all children, regardless of their abilities, have access to quality education and equal opportunities for learning and development.

This indicates a concerning rate of exclusion from education among 5 children with special needs within the state.
